Dnipro is accustomed to being perceived as a modern city where you can have fun in nightclubs, take pictures on the Embankment, visit huge shopping malls and entertainment centers. But in fact, this is not at all the highlight of the city. Dnipro is the space capital of Ukraine and the city is worth visiting at least once in your life in order to visit the National Center for Aerospace Education for Youth. This institution is both scientific, educational and museum. Therefore, you can come there not only to just look at the interesting exhibits, but also to hear about various newest developments, to learn things about the Cosmos that many do not know about. And also, excursions there are conducted by real engineers who built combat missiles and space satellites.
Hearing the history of Russian cosmonautics from those who took a direct part in the development of the industry is something that will be remembered for a lifetime. Hearing such stories, you feel that your jaw literally falls off and you want to almost squeak with delight.
This institution was founded relatively recently - in 1996. It is named after Alexander Makarov. This brilliant scientist for 25 years was the head of an enterprise that was engaged in the development and creation of space and rocket technology.
Today this center aims to promote the national cosmonautics. After all, unfortunately, not every Ukrainian knows what ingenious developments appear in our country. The center hosts various conferences, where you can hear a lot of interesting things. Also exhibitions where young scientists show their new developments. It is in this center that you can start your journey as a developer of space technology.
In order to attract the attention of people of any age, the museum exhibits not models of technology, as in most similar institutions, but genuine copies of rocket and space technology. There you can even sit in the cockpit of a real space shuttle or see an open area with combat missiles.
The following exhibits can be seen in the museum: intercontinental missiles (among them "Satan" R-36M, about which there are legends), strategic missile warheads, SZO S-200 anti-aircraft missile system, V-2 rocket dummy (the well-known Hitler's "Weapon of Retribution" ), space satellites and their elements. Also in the museum there are photographs of the Earth, which were taken by Ukrainian satellites. The museum has a large area, so you need at least a few hours to see everything, to photograph everything. This is a truly incredible place where you realize how brilliant Ukrainian scientists are, who were able to make so many technological breakthroughs and develop the industry of building rockets and space technology in Ukraine.
Therefore, we highly recommend visiting this place to all Lviv residents and guests of the city who travel to Dnipro. No one has yet regretted that they crossed the threshold of the center.
