Today, everyone who wants to get to the territory of the Crimean Peninsula passes through Armyansk. This is a checkpoint located on the other side of the border. Passing this small town, almost no one knows about its history. And it is quite interesting.

For example, not far from this city there is a huge moat and rampart, which were built in Scythian times. The length is as much as 8 kilometers, that is, the moat stretches across the entire Perekop isthmus, starting right in the Karkinitsky Bay and ending at Lake Sivash. The width of the ditch is quite serious - about 45 meters. And the height of the shaft is 20 meters. It is still not known what exactly this moat was built for, but historians admit the idea that it played the role of a channel connecting two seas: the Black and Azov seas.

In general, there were many Scythian settlements on the territory near Armyansk. Therefore, mounds on the coast of salt lakes are still preserved. They contain burials dating back to the Bronze Age, as well as the times of the Scythians and Sarmatians.

As for Armyansk itself, a transshipment point was built back in the 17th century on the place where the village now stands. It was of very serious importance, because it was there that the Chumaks traded, exchanged their goods for salt. This place was so significant and profitable that in 1730 most of the community of the city of Perekop moved there. And by the way, these were mainly Armenians and Greeks. That is why in 1736 the item received the name Armenian Bazaar, which it carried until 1921, and only then became Armenian. For many decades, even centuries, people traveled to the Armenian Bazaar to sell sheep skins, wool, and also resell salt to the Chumaks. Salt, by the way, was mined right near the city, in the salt lakes.

And today the town has again become a checkpoint, only a checkpoint. And everyone who wants to get to Crimea travels through it today. Artsantaxi offers transportation services in the direction Odessa - Armyansk. The intercity taxi overcomes 320 kilometers, passing through Nikolaev, then goes along the bypass of Kherson, then passes Alyoshka and reaches Kalanchak. Unfortunately, due to quarantine measures, taxis cannot cross the border, so passengers have to go through the buffer zone on their own. But this is a short distance and it is easy to overcome it, especially after a comfortable trip with Artsantaxi. Therefore, if you need to get to the territory of the peninsula - book a trip with us, travel quickly and safely.
