Kropyvnytskyi is a very interesting city, although not everyone knows about it. But in fact, it is filled with a variety of historical monuments that appeared back in the days when the city was called Elisavetgrad. In this city, historical monuments are very carefully stored; each building has a corresponding plate. Thanks to such signs, you can easily walk around the city without a guide and not miss interesting places.

The walk should start from Dvortsovaya Street. It is the main pedestrian area with many buildings from the 18th and 19th century. There you can see a neoclassical mansion that was once the building of the Petrograd International Bank. By the way, this house is also called Kharlab's house, because this is the name of its first owner. Opposite it there is another very beautiful old mansion, which has incredibly beautiful bas-reliefs and a variety of decor. By the way, there are still legends about this house that real ghosts live in it. And they do not allow the employees of the library, which has been in this building for a hundred years, to work in peace. Also on this street is the SBU building, which looks like a fabulous palace. And also, on the street there is a university building, which was a hotel called "Versailles" just over a century ago.

And at the end of Dvortsovaya Street is the Music and Drama Theater. It is located on Teatralnaya Square. By the way, it was in Kropyvnytskyi that the first professional theater was founded, and it was founded by Marko Kropyvnytskyi, after whom the city was named. Such famous creators as Ivan Karpenko-Kary, Maria Zankovetskaya, Nikolai Sadovsky worked in this theater, composers Nikolai Lysenko and Ferenc Liszt also performed. In front of the theater there is a bust of Mark Kropyvnytsky, and next to it is the Natalka-Poltavka fountain.

Walking further through the city, you should reach the house of the district court. This building was built in the classical style in 1848 to receive the emperor. And after a couple of decades, this house was turned into a district court. The Court of Appeal is still sitting in this room.

There are also many beautiful churches in Kropyvnytskyi. These are the Greek Church, built in 1812, the Intercession Church, built in the neo-Russian style in the first half of the 19th century, the Annunciation Cathedral, which was built in 2014, but it very well complements the architectural ensemble of the city.

If we talk about ordinary monuments, then one of the most famous is the monument to Pashutin. It looks like a statue of Mr. Alexander Pashutin himself, who, by the way, was a philanthropist and beloved mayor, and a chair next to her, on which you can sit down to take a photo. By the way, this chair is standing for a reason. He is a symbol of the fact that Pashutin transfers his power to us, descendants, and bequeaths to take care of the city.

If you are interested in Jewish heritage, then you should definitely visit Meitus' house and the main synagogue. The synagogue was built at the end of the 19th century and was built with funds raised by the Jewish community. In Soviet times, the synagogue was not used for its intended purpose, but now it again belongs to the Jewish community. Also in the premises of the synagogue there is a museum "Jews of Elisavetgrad". And opposite is the house of doctor Meitus. Once he lived in a building with his family. Their rooms were on the second floor, and the first was his private hospital. Now the Meitus house houses the Museum of Musical Culture.
